Website rebuild

Project Objective

Although West Coast Archives had a good start on a website, there were some navigation issues and some of the copy on the site needed to be sharpened up. The original site had plenty of copy on its services pages but it had not been optimized for readers and search engines.

The proposed changes included an overhaul of the site’s design and content with a focus on usability and search engine optimization. Company Maker also provided a re-launching of West Coast Archives’ social media profiles as the original Facebook and Twitter accounts had not been updated for several years.

Company Maker’s Approach

Working with a copy writer, we rebuilt each of the original site’s pages to make the content easier to read and index for key words. The aim was to educate West Coast Archives’ existing and potential clients about the document management industry and how it could be useful to their business.

At the same time, Company Maker redesigned pages to create a visual flow of information. Each of West Coast’s main services was symbolized with an icon which would link to that service’s page. Every service page also contains a quote form as well as an icon menu. The icon for that particular page is highlighted so the user can easily know where they are on the site.

Social Media Re-Launch

Oftentimes a company allows an employee or someone related to start a social media profile, only to have it quickly lapse into looking abandoned. West Coast Archives was a textbook example of this. At some point in the past a Facebook page and a Twitter account had been created, but never updated. Company Maker worked with the owner of West Coast Archives to create new graphics and build a strategy for keeping these new accounts updated and engaged.
